Autumn/Winter 2019 Group Programs

These practical, experiential group programs, facilitated by Kristen Pringle are run during school terms as 1-hour weekly sessions in a multi-week course. The programs are sensitive to each participant's needs and are trauma-informed. No prior experience is required for any group and you may be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate or access funding via NDIS or other providers.

Mindfulness for Well-Being (using Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness Practises)

Program runs Tuesdays from 12:45pm - 1:45pm for 5 weeks

This group program is specifically designed to help you reduce stress, improve your well-being and cultivate mindfulness skills and resources, so that you may develop a different way of relating to yourself, stress and various life situations which may have previously led to you feeling exhausted, stuck or overwhelmed.

The weekly 1-hour sessions include: participation in trauma-sensitive, evidence-based mindfulness exercises to your level of comfort/utility; learning about the underpinning research and brain science into mindfulness and stress and learning how to incorporate mindfulness practices into your life.

You will also be provided with handouts and access to recordings of practices and exercises.

If you have found mindfulness challenging, are new to mindfulness or are experienced and want to explore mindfulness in a trauma-sensitive and compassionate way, this is the course for you!

Mindful Movement for Well-Being: Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TC-TSY)

Program runs Tuesday's from 5pm - 6pm for 5 weeks

This evidence-based, mindful movement group program utilises TCTSY www.traumasensitiveyoga.com, an empirically validated, clinical intervention for complex trauma, PTSD, dissociative disorders and other related behavioural and emotional difficulties.

This group program is specifically designed to help you build experiences of empowerment, practice choice-making and present moment experiences and cultivate a more positive relationship to your own body, by practicing physical shapes (modified hatha yoga), movement and trauma-sensitive breathing practices in an environment that cultivates safety.

Unlike other yoga or movement classes, this class is: evidence-based; the trained facilitator is a mental health clinician, OT, certified yoga therapist and the Australasian Trainer of TCTSY; no physical, hands-on assists are used; the emphasis of the class is on the internal experiences and not on external appearance or "doing things right". Chairs, mats and blankets are provided and the entire class can be practiced using a chair if preferred.

Please call us on 03 5976 3911 for costs and to book a place for any of the 5 week groups, which will run from:        28th May - 25th June, 2019;  16th July - 13th August, 2019 and 20th August - 17th September, 2019.

For participants with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), a Medicare rebate may be available. Rebates are also available via NDIS, TAC, DVA, some Private Health Funds and several other funding bodies.
